lake Murray

Has lake Murray turn over?

Not Monday(last time out)

Currently, there’s only 9 degrees difference in temperature from surface to bottom. With the temperatures and wind forecasted for this weekend, it will probably occur then…about the same time as last year it would appear…

I’ve spent about 85% of my life’s wages on fishing, the rest I just wasted…

Can someone explain what turnover means in regards to catching fish? What does it do to the fish and the ability to catch fish?

I heard that fish feels like their house has been turned upside down, they are in “shock” and will not bite, is it true???

The lake is aerated through wind and wave action. When the lake stratifies in summertime their is no mixing of the upper and lower layers. The oxygen in the lower layers gets used up as the summer progresses so the fish and bait tend to congregate in the areas with more oxygen and suitable temperature. When they are bunched up, they are easier to find. When the lake turns over, the whole lake top the bottom has the same temperature and oxygen content. So where the fish were once concentrated, they will scatter making them harder to find. They will still bite, you will just have to work harder to find them in concentrations.

Thanks for the info.
