Took a trip upstate to fish the freshwater, and ended up fishing in the rain and wind and cold. As the saying goes…“You can plan your trips, but you can’t plan the weather.” We had a good bite going early, and managed 1 limit of keepers(stripers)with 1 going 11 pounds. Lost a good fish right at the boat when the hook broke. Fished with my youngest son and my wife in full rain gear all morning. Very good fishery up there on that lake, and it’s only 2hrs up the road. Had a nice fish dinner last night. Those stripers are amazingly good to eat, and I don’t generally like freshwater fish. My wife foul hooked and landed a fair sized catfish, but she wouldn’t keep it. I guess all those years growing up in Clearwater Fla. put all catfish on the “throw it back” list with puffer fish and sharks.
