I have heard that SCE&G will be dropping lake Murray level this winter to 346’ anyone else know of this.
That is capacity? trying to see how far it will go down at my house.
14 feet down would be a lot. What ramps would still be usable? Isn’t there a rumor of a huge drawdown almost every fall?
14 feet…(**(). better get a trailer for the boat.
Nothing has been confirmed. From what i was told a decision was to be made within 2 weeks and that was a week ago…as of the last time i spoke with a source and if the grass, dock work, and health of the lake take the lead we will see the draw down. If not the normal draw down will happen…

With a grass growth and lack of carp. My money is on the drawdown.

There are plenty of carp according to data being presented…the problem is the carp are not targeting the slender pond weed. They are eating other stuff is what has been observed…but i agree, it wouldnt surprise me either way it went…still 50/50 right now i would say…
I think SE&G announced drawdowns early September each year that’s probably when we will know by

Full pool is 360.

what Murrymaker said is correct, we may know this week, it’s usually announced earlier but there are more challenging issues being reviewed
discussions are ongoing with DNR about many topics, a main one is the weed that the carp aren’t targeting, others are the regular stuff like general maintenance, dock repair, shoreline maintenance, etc.
other decisions include when to start the drawdown and how long to keep it down, typically that would be Novemberish and about 6 weeks, then we cross our fingers for rain to fill it back up

Here is the official news release from SCE&G. Planning to start dropping to 350’ in October and then bring back to 358’ by next spring.

10 feet. Still need to get the boat out…
measure those depths boy and girls, it’s at 357.3 now
the 350’ level is a target, it could be higher or lower depending on lack of rain or too much rain, I don’t know how much it may vary from 350’
I have a Road King pontoon trailer for sale if you want to keep your barge from sitting on the lake bottom
what ramps will be useable at 350’?

the pontoon I’m not as worried about its the center console that worries me.

Lake Murray marina/Liberty should be fine.
I have about 13-14 feet off the end of my floating dock, but closer to 10 feet on the front. both boats are on the side. oh well. both the trailers are shot so I got a few months to figure that out.
Acapulco should be usable. It will be really steep. That’s something to keep in mind on sub-freezing mornings. Might want to carry a bag of de-icer in the bed of the truck to spread and launch safely.

Steep works for me as long as I can access the lake. I prefer steep, that way I don’t have to get my toes wet launching by myself. LOL

Yeah, but when the water on the ramp freezes, “steep” isn’t your friend.

True. Nothing like having to gun the boat motor on the trailer while someone is trying to get traction in your truck. Can’t tell you how may times Dad and I used to have to do that at Baker Creek State Park ramp at Clarks Hill. He had a pick-up without positive traction and a little spit on the ramp would make it spin.
