It looked like the perfect day to catch cats. Just before full moon in May, great weather, low wind, and they were pushing some water from the dam. Normally with those conditions I have caught 50+ cats from 5 to 35 pounds by lunch time. Not this trip, caught 15 or so biggest was 5#. Did catch a flay head twice, he had distinct battle scars so I know it was the same one.
The water was a little warmer then normal for this time of year so I think that was the issue. Normally it is Mid June before the water gets this warm.
