I believe it was about 18 boats that entered.
The weather turned out to be OK, although it looked pretty iffy at times with quite a bit of lightning off in the distance on both the north and south side of the lake. The wind was really crazy with everything from dead calm winds to probably 25 MPH at times.
We were trolling when the wind got so bad in the big water we were going to pull in for a while when a friend called and said there was some room to tie up on the downwind side of some structure he was fishing in about 180’.
Our bait wasn’t doing real well, but we were able to jig up some under the light and catch some fish while watching my friend that called us down there catch one 11+ and some others that won him big fish and biggest creel of 38+ lbs. Unfortunately, there wasn’t any money paid out for watching the biggest fish get caught, but he brought home $1350…or something like that.
We wound up with our 5 fish weighed in being 28+ lbs, but I never did see the final list, so I’m not sure were we fell in the standings…but I do know I never heard our name called to come pick up a check.

That wind was crazy… 1st 38# 2nd 31.?? 3rd 31.?? Think there was something like. .15# between the two. Crazy how little can mean so much. Difference between 250 and 400$… we had just a lil over 29#. Over all great night on the water with great people…
Side note: hope Tom doesnt keep my i-pilot as long as i have kept his cooler…lol…just
Messin with ya Tom…
Good to hear about some fish being caught after our Friday morning skunk. Were they caught trolling or downrods with herring? If it’s a secret spot you don’t need to share it, but when you say you “tied up over 180 feet” are you talking about any other location than the Towers?
What I-Pilot, the one I gave back to you. You must have really been tired. On another note, does anyone know where I can get a replacement remote for an I-Pilot.
Good fishing, but a bad night for my Hydroglow to quit working. Looks like the bulb burnt. It’s about two years old, but I would expect the bulb to last longer than that. I need to figure out what to do with it.
