I’ve got braid for backing on my Lamson Velocity. It won’t stop spinning on the reel and is driving me nuts. Since there are no ventilation holes on the bottom of the spool, it slips. This doesn’t happen on my old Battenkill large arbors.
I have wrapped the braid around the spool a ton of times and it still slips. Anyone else come across this issue and how did you fix it? I’ve thought about wrapping the spool with duct tape to give it grip but would prefer not to.
start with mono and tie a uni to uni to the backing after covering the bottom of the spool. do this will all my spinning gear too that has braid. Tape or rubber band will work as well but can trap sands and grit better
Remember… if you any backing on your backing you need to back off on the amount you use, it adds bulk you don’t need… Bring me your reels and I’ll donate real backing and get it to not slip on ya
very easy fix…use small piece of tape. Place it on the line soon after you tie it to the spool. Anytime you use braided line, the spools shrink in winter and the line will slide. The tape fixes problem every time. This was a tip from the late Jose Wejebe.
