Wanted to see if anyone had ever had this issue before…
Purchased a Lamson Litespeed in their 1.0 size brand new back in August for my 4 weight.
Yesterday, while casting, I did a slight haul and the line cut in half. This is the second time this has happened. The first time it happened was only a week after I bought it. I figured the first time it was a bad line or something but after this happened a second time it has to be my reel. Both were when I was casting and doing a slight haul to pull more line off the reel. Has this ever happened to any one else with a Lamson? Definitely a gentle motion, I’m not casting to busting albies here.
I’ve looked all over the reel and there’s nothing abnormal looking or sharp that would cut a line. The first line ruined was an SA Sharkskin 4 weight and yesterday a Rio Gold 5 weight.
In 20 years of fly fishing I’ve never cut a line while fishing. I’ve cast with dozens and dozens of reels and own 15 and never had this happen, nor have I heard of it.
Thanks!
