It’s always great to test new waters with big fish potential. Team Hardcore did just that Saturday through yesterday on Lake Sidney Lanier. While what we caught were mostly small stripers from 16-21 inches with some 1-3 pound spotted bass mixed in, we had a great time. The weather was really a hindrance with 2 frontal passages and nearly 5 inches of rain. We pulled around the Gainesville Marina, fished up around the Olympic rowing venue, pulled Wahoo Creek, and fished deep downrods. Though the results were mediocre overall, there was one highlight…

She measured 40 inches long and was released to fight another day. We got her on a 44 foot downrod at the mouth of Wahoo in 53 feet of water on the east fork of the Little River Saturday afternoon. Good times!
Great job!! I’m guessing that knocks me out of landing the biggest fish ever in your boat. That’s OK, it’s strong motivation for the next time I’m out with you.
On Monday, we were only able to muster 1 18 incher out of all this.
