Last Couple Of Weeks

Work schedule has made it tough to get out as much as I want, but been working in some short 2-3 hour trolling trips right before dark until abut 10:30 or so.

Fishing hasn’t been great, but fairly consistent, usually catching 3-5 per trip. Most have been legit keepers with a few shorts mixed in now and then.

Nothing like being out there for a few hours of therapy after a 10-11 hour work day. Pic from last evening:

2 of the 4 from yesterday. Good to see such healthy looking fish in the middle of the summer:

Fish were caught suspended in the river channel:

Fun trip out Last Sat with my youngest grandson for the first time this summer. Baseball still comes first for him :

Friends son Preston with his first striper ever last week. Only got 1 that eve  :

Got a friend coming from out of town to go out tonight. We’ll be staying out longer and see how the bite is later at night as well.

What baits are you trolling, SS? I might have to break out the downriggers myself. We marked a whole bunch of suspended fish at that same depth last week, but all I had was herring. Every fish I caught was 24"+ and fat, so they are looking real good for this time of year.

A couple of nights ago after we were done DR fishing in 60, cruising back across the channel I marked a TON of fish suspended around the edge and tree tops in 50’-80’. Might be tough to pull the DR hardware around the edges and tree tops, but they were holding some serious fish.

Been using rapala FS18, slivers, and sebiles. I believe any good 6+" plug you have will work if you are at the right depth and they are eating.

Do either of you go on any night later in the evening (after 10pm)? I’d like to go after work sometime, but the wife doesn’t want me out there alone. And I can understand that. If you do sometime & need some company, give me a holler.

I was out last Sunday morning & had 4 nice ones between 6:30 & 7:30am. Then they quit. I was fishing near a hump, not too far from the swimming area, in about 60’-70’. All came from about 40’-50’. I’m going to try it again in the morning.
