So I report back to school tomorrow and decided that my last day should be spent on the water enjoying God’s place. I knew that the reds would be very active due to the high tides. Got out around 6am and saw so much life on the flat. I couldnt catch a photo of the reds tailing, but did see a lot of fish. A ton of bait was on the flat as well. It started to rain heavily for about 30mins so I went to the end of the dock and relaxed and listened to the rain hit the tin roof. After that, I began the real fishing.
Caught my second sheepshead ever on a fiddler then the bite went slow. Great release to make someone else happy. Bite went real slow after that until the incoming low tide. (This is all one spot since I am no longer owning a boat) I could see redfish looking for crabs in about 10in of water. Saw about 20 total. Are they schooling early or is this normal? Threw out a popping cork with a mud minnow out and before I know it, I could see a redfish come up and eat my bait! So cool to see this and it made my day! Looking around 24-25in.
Caught my second redfish on a mud minnow with a carolina rig about 2mins later. Around the same size. Im guessing in the 25in range. The redfish had some yellow color to the top. Any idea what it could be? I could also see redfish swimming around and splashing for more food for about another hour or so. It was a great day and couldnt ask for a better day to end my summer before school.
