I haven’t posed in a while but that doesn’t mean I haven’t been fishing. I wanted to share some pictures from my last few trips out on my friend Jimmy’s boat. It’s always amazing the variety of creatures you can pull up when fishing out past 150’. All fish that were out of season or not target species were vented if needed and sent on their way.
A big bonus a few weeks ago was a school of big cobia that came up to the boat and hung out long enough for us to get a few. We even managed one on topwater. I quick froze some of the prime cut from the big one and after two weeks in the freezer it made some fine sashimi.
148 lbs total weight of 4 cobia landed within 10 min.
We all took turns holding up the bigger fish back at the dock
Blue spotted Coronet Fish.
Some type of mantis shrimp. I had to poke it so yes it cut my finger.
BigEye Snapper
Scorpion Fish. Are the ones that we have here in the Atlantic poisonous like their Australian cousins?
We had to run through this to get to the spot but it was worth it.

Man, why did you had to go and post all those pretty pictures? I’m sitting home rehabbing after hip replacement surgery and feeling OK not to be out fishing as I listen to the thunder booming and see that nobody is really posting much of anything. Guess it’s time to rock this rehab and get back out! There is definitely some cool stuff out there, keep it up!
I totally forgot about that video. The one that guy did about octopus was also pretty hilarious. I thought all mantis shrimp were the hammer kind but the one we caught was the spear kind that just cuts the crap out of you. It was fatally injured by the sabiki rig so we used the tail for bait and immediately landed a huge red snapper. Caught plenty of them on Saturday so the vent tool got some work.
