Last night....

Not much to report, but it was an incredibly beautiful night on the flats…

Six tails total, two of which I managed to smack on the head with flyline. The water on the flat feels like its starting to get cooler, but still not seeing a lot of active fish. Maybe in the next few weeks, it’ll turn on.

Better to be out there looking at that than sitting at home watching TV. Nice pics!

I’ve had it for a few years now. Broken three rods total and have gotten brand new ones each time from TFO for $25 no questions asked. I certainly have no complaints about the customer service or warranty department.

I’ve enjoyed it, but I’m looking to move up eventually, just not sure which brand I’m going to move up to. It’s caught a fair amount of fish over the years and I’ve only had one fish that I thought was going to be too much for it, and that was a 31" red in the grass. But it worked out. I’ve never been one of those guys that needed a $1K fishing rod, but they sure do cast nice!

Awesome pics and good work!

@23 what series and weight rod are you using? I was just on TFO website and they have quite a few options. Also, what flies do you throw on the flats?
Thanks
Great pics too

Mine is a 9’ 4 piece rod. I’ll have to look at the model. 9wt with scientific angler forward floating line. 9wt is at the top for what you want to throw at reds. Many people use 8wts, which I believe is ideal and there’s some that will throw a 7wt at reds tailing…just depends on the angler and what you want to do. This time of the year, its better on the fish to have a little more rod as they get worn out quickly with the water temps being up so high. You don’t want to wear out a fish with the fight and then send him back not at his best and have him turn into crabbait.

Go see the guys at Charleston Angler, they will set you up for the flies. Thier copperhead crab on the flat is tough to beat.
