First off let me say what an amazing fishery y’all have in Charleston. We only make it down about one weekend a year and we picked an absolutely perfect weekend this year. On Friday we fished the incoming tide and started at 9am. We set up and had the first fish on at 9:05. We ended up catching 18 Bull Reds in 2 hours. The fish averaged 30lbs with one close to 40lbs. Started Saturday morning fishing the incoming tide again, caught 10 reds in the morning and then fished the evening bite and caught 7 huge bull reds by sundown. Fish in the evening averaged 40lbs each. Woke up Sunday morning with hands hurting and a tired crew but we went at it again. Fished from 9am-noon and caught 22 bull reds, these averaging the same as Friday. Total for the weekend: 57 Bull Reds including 4 Tagged Fish, 2 doubles and 1 Triple. All fish were revived and swam off to be caught again another day.
Darn, now you went and showed everyone where the Grillage is! Nice fish BTW:smiley:

The fish in that last picture, especially, is gorgeous! I love when they are super bronze like that.
Great weekend – I would love to have just one of those days this coming weekend.

That’s gettin it done right there! Nice job and good to know all these fish swam off to make little fish.
Showed my wife the pix because I’ve been telling her I want to get her to the jetties to tussle with some bulls and she was like “No way could I reel in that fish!”
This weekend looks good, I plan on hitting the rocks.

Way to go guys! That’s one hell of a weekend. Glad ya’ll got into em. What was the bait of choice that day?
FRESH cut horse mullet was the trick everyday. When we ran out of mullet everyday we would go to our secondary baits… Cut Menhaden and bluefish and let’s just say the mullet out fished the other two baits 56-1.
my neighbor was fishing right next to you guys in the yellow sea craft. You pumped us up to get out this weekend!

Yea we saw him on Sunday he was fishing by himself. He was doing a great job catching them and landing them by himself. Takes a lot of practice to go out solo and catch those big fish in that current.
What a difference a week makes… fished that same area all day Saturday and Sunday with fresh cut mullet, live finger mullet, cut whiting and what ever else we could manage.
-1 Red on Saturday afternoon. Saw less than 10+/- caught across the fleet.
-0 on Sunday. Saw 4 caught all day.
Just saw this post, now I know why the Grillage looked like Morris Island on July 4th this past Saturday when I drove by. I don’t know how anyone would have gotten a fish in without hooking someone else’s anchor rope!
Nice Alex. Glad to see you were able to get down here and get on some.
