Last weeks outings

Had some work to do in Columbia last week, so I took along my 4wt fly rod and hit up lake Murray and the lower Saluda. First afternoon/evening was spent on the River produced one rainbow, one brown, and one bream in about two hours of fishing. The next day I hit the lake with a friend and Hooked up with 9 Large mouth (all small, largest pictured) and tons of bream and shellcraker. The most fun came when we came across a cove with stripers that had a large school of shad hemmed up in about 3 feet of water and they were giving em hell. I did not land any, but hooked up with two that took me well into the backing before the 5X tippet gave way and both fish took my last 2 clousers. Tons of fun.

Fished this weekend 11/3 and 11/4 here in charleston Saturday was slow with 3 trout on the fly. Sunday was a little better with 8 trout (all between 9-12") and 8 blues. I caught a blue double on a crease fly with a small epoxy shrimp tailing behind on 8lb fluro (kind of like a DOA tied under a popping cork). It was fun having two on at once and they put up a good little fight.

Sorry, I only have these two pics, but I was afraid to go wading with the camera in the river only to have it get too wet when my friend left it out of the dry box, only the SD card made it out of the ordeal unscathed. I think the next camera I go with will be the Pentax Optio w30. They say it is water proof, so it may be able to take some underwater release pics.

Nice - I have been thinking of doing the same thing with a shrimp or clouser behind a crease fly.

As far as cameras go, I can’y say enough about this one- http://www.olympusamerica.com/cpg_section/product.asp?product=1225

I have the model before this one, the 700, and have used and abused it this summer and it works like brand new. It has spent quite a bit of time being completely soaked by saltwater, scales, slime, mud, fishmeal, baitbinder, etc… and it hasn’t skipped a beat. I have waded flats here with it in a pocket of my shorts and it was underwater the entire time. It was on sale for $229 @ Wallyworld when my wife bought it.

I cant believe that about that camera! Is it still on sale?

Go tigers!

We bought it last spring for that price… no idea how much they are now, but whatever it is, if you plan on using it anywhere near the water, it’s worth what they are asking.

Thanks Jeremy, I ordered the camera online from BuyDig. It will be sooo nice not pestering those on the boat with: “Is the camera back in the dry box?”

You made a wise decision.
