Last Years Fly Swap

fritzy engineeded a fly swap on here last year (or early this year). there was a fly in there -

a small wooly copper colored something. lead eyes, a double weedless rig, and two tailfeathers splayed away from each other.

i caught about 10 reds on it yesterday. it’s a great fly and whom ever tied it did a masterfull job.

thanks!

Hoppy,

A picture perhaps? If it detracts from beer and wine time disregard the request but I’d like to see it.

if you can post pics on here i’ll go take one and email it to you. or someone send me an addy and i’ll send the pic

Is it this one

That thing looks deadly!

Thats the closest one in the fly swap I could find to what Hoppy was describing. It has bead chain eyes though.

Well tied!

Nice fly Calibogue,I havent used any of the flies from the swap yet.

that is the one. who tied it?

i knew the reds were feeding on shrimp yesterday and i looked throgh the flies from the swamt and that one sait throw me, throw me. i hung it up on oysters twice and took the tm over to get it. i knew i would blow up fish doing so, but i wanted that fly back!

thanks again

When I get a little time here soon I will tie up a couple more for ya Hoppy. That may be soon b/c I need to build up the arsenal for the rockfish.

that is very generous of you and i really appreciate it! they certainly would not go unused!

Yes that fly was awesome I used it on the flats some to.

Maybe time for another fly swap methinks…

“I work while Skydog fishes”

Put it together and I’m in but there must be a deadline of about 3-4 weeks…period! Also, prior performance (last swap) mus be considered.

Yeah…last years was done in an untimely manner, due to people not getting their flys tied.

Maybe this year it should be a meet up and swap insytead of a mail in… the promise of beer and meeting people may spur them into actually tying on time  I’d be in for it… of course there is always the caviat that I may be deployed at anytime… man I can’t wait to retire so I don’t have that hangning over me…

People from all over participated. I had some of the flies within the first 2 weeks of setting it up. There were a few others that held the thing up forever. And one of them even worked at flyshop which was ironic I thought, How hard would it have been to walk over to the clousers and just grab a dozen and send them in as yours to at least save face with everyone. A deadline should be a must for one. I may participate but wont organize one ever again.

He took the bait like a jugbelly redfish on an olive and white clouser.
