late jetties report

Had the parents in town 2 weekends ago (9/30-10/2). My dad has been wanting to catch a redfish since my wife and I moved here 3 years ago. Fortunately we’ve been getting more confident with finding them. The fish cooperated for us when we went in search with my parents. Just so happened that my wife reeled in the 3 biggest fish of the weekend…redfish 48" ~35 lbs, and two sandbar sharks, one ~40lbs (pictured) and one ~60lbs (not pictured).

Two day total: 12 reds (36-48")
2 sandbar sharks
2 atlantic sharpnose
1 bonnethead
2 bluefish
1 large ray
4 fish that either pulled crimps or broke swivels whose size and identity can only be made into fish stories.

All in all, we returned to the ramp both nights quite satisfied.

Man! Those are some juggernauts! Good work!

Thanks for sharing! That’s a great day!!!

Great report! Yall found some pigs! The ones that get away always make the best fish stories

That is just too good…
Sincere congrats…

-The size of a fish is directly proportional to the time between when it’s lost and the story is told. - Me
-What’s the best eating fish, you ask? I’ve found that for a lot people, its the ones that they happen to be able to catch, clean, and cook. - My Dad (1/13/37 - 9/27/16 I love you Pops)
-Until you have loved a dog, part of your soul remains unawakened. Anatole France (paraphrased)
-RIP my “Puppy Dog” 10/15/2004 - 1/14/2013. I’ll never forget him. What a special friend he was.
-Team Gonna Fish

I hope the winds will die down some so I can make a trip out to the jetties…great work!

Great job!

Great report! A successful 2 days, no doubt.
What baits were producing most of those fish?

The first night we used frozen cut mullet, fresh cut bluefish, and live pinfish and croaker. Second night was frozen cut mullet and live croaker.

The reds and smaller sharks didn’t seem to have a preference, the bigger sharks hit live bait.
