Was wondering if anyone has ever tried late night/early mornings on the harbor? Since I’ve always had better luck on the incoming tide. My daughter and I are going to try the incoming tide tonight, Low tide at approx 2:00 A.M., Hope they aren’t all sleeping…
Done that a few times years ago. Caught them just fine. Usually no one else around either…
Thats late on a work night! Went last night at High tide in the harbor and ended up with a half cooler of medium, large. We were throwing all the little guys back as we caught them. If you go at high, Find a mud flat and set up a few feet off the grass. You will catch them.
Thank ya’ll for the help, fishbruiser as it turns out she has school till late, we are both off from work tomorrow, and we’ve never tried it. With her schedule we don’t get many chances so we’re going to go for it… But thanks for the advice, I will use it in the future!
Made it out about 1230 A.M., shrimp where jumping around the boat as we where finding the spot. One other boat was all we seen. So we put out poles then baited. Started throwing around 1:20. Made two strong runs grabbing mostly Large with a few Mediums and some Jumbos thrown in to make a good half cooler…started the 3rd run but they where gone. waited till the tide started running back in good and started throwing again. It took 3 more passes to fill the cooler, however after the tide turned they where mostly medium with a bunch of large and some smalls. Over all it was a great night on the water with my daughter putting shrimp in the freezer…Man I love the Low Country!
On another subject we came across an old piling sticking out of the water, nasty looking thing…Lat/Log on the GPS is N32’47.096 W79’53.661. was sticking approx a foot or so out of the water, water around it was 3 feet or so…sure would be nice if they could mark that thing somehow… I saw it once last year but didn’t think to mark it on the GPS. Be safe!
Did you see that log around Crab BanK? We bumped over that 2 weeks ago just before low tide. Actually had to repair severe scratches in the hull. Was pretty nasty… We were turning around from a run down the poles and the boat lifted up out of the water briefly, we didn’t have a clue what happened, only guess it was an old marker or something… Wow… But yeah we have it marked too.

JSC84tgr, Thought i’d sent you a PM, and think I messed that up, so to answer your question I was over more towards the golf course. I believe it was last year it used to be a wooden tower very close to where this piling is at. Going to have to try Crab Bank, haven’t been there as of yet anyway.
