i think as long as the comercial boys can catch and shoot fish by the truck loads (18 wheelers) and haul them out of state, the guy that goes twice a year isnt even putting a dent in the stocks. ghg3, eat up. post all the pics you want man. there are tree hugger spys on here.

It’s always easier to speak about something you don’t know about. After those guys came into town, there was an attempt to get spearfishing banned in the state (for recreational and commercial). There are no tree huggers here, only people who care about the resource, and who care about seeing spearfishing stay here for the rest of our lives. Sometimes, out of sight really is out of mind…
we have made it way too easy for all those that say we kill to many,to have proof and show it to all their ■■■■■■■■■■■■■■ they never have to leave their offices now…keep in mind these supporters don’t have a clue if our fishery is in trouble or not they only know what they are told or shown…
the real twist is these same people will order fish at their favorite restaurant?
legal or not, there is no need to plaster the pics on the internet anymore.
Listen to yellabird. It does not matter how many people were on the boat or who shot what what day it was, how much money was spent. This is to many dead fish to post on the interweb in one group. Don’t take it personally, everyone gets the same treatment.
Set the trap boys, we going to pass through them again!!
But its ok to post picture of large catches that were taken on hook and line?
Not really, but there is a hell of a lot more money tied up in sportfishing than bottomfishing\spearfishing. Spearfishermen are such a minority that the enviro groups could ban us without flinching, so it's best to stay under the radar. It's not that there is anything wrong with it. It's that if they PERCEIVE it to be wrong, and get on a mission to get rid of us, then there isn't much of an opposition to combat them.
They wouldn’t dare try to do that to the guys with the million dollar yachts, so the reality is, they can get away with much more.
So again… There is PERCEPTION and there is REALITY… Unfortunately, in the game of politics and fisheries management, PERCEPTION is the only thing that matters.

scoutin,
I see what you and yellabird mean. none taken personally. however, I realize what etiquette is needed on the site. thanks for the advice.and the warning.
fair weather and following seas
hold on to your ass boys…its gonna get a little bit bumpy
How to post photos on an internet forum and survive:
A.) Hold up your fish right out of the water, make sure it’s a big one.
B.) Even Better: get a bikini wearing hottie to hold up your fish.
C.) Smile big while still in the dive gear while posing with that monster lobster.
Everyone is right it seems. We still see the pictures from old black and white photos when there were spearfishing contests on who could shoot the biggest and most and then hear stories about how fish were hunted into oblivion.
Just be wise on what you do and what you show.

this was the first post for these guys. if they posted 5 times a week like that maybe it would be different. someone goes out and has a great day, maybe the best of their life an BAM, you are killing the stock. also i am a supporter of conservation, and help with a chapter here in florence. i undestand where you are coming from but let the man enjoy his first post. use a pm to let him know how you feel.
peace out

The issue is really not that you shot too many fish. You clearly did not. The issue, unfortunately, is that you posted them. You’ll notice that the 3 guys that (in my opinion) shoot more fish than anyone else on this site, dont post pics, or at least not nearly as much as they use to. Take a lesson from these guys. Perception is everything in this game. Send pics of big haul to 4 of your close friends via email. If you feel the need to post pics on a site, post a pic of the biggest fish. It saves you from the heartburn of someone questioning your ethics. Sorry you recieved this kind of welcome.

You don’t have to wait until fish get in trouble before you act responsibly. It’s better to be proactive than reactive. The feds will come in and bend us over like they always do.
^^^ The most important point of this whole tread. Not pointed at you boys just in general.
