Headed out early Saturday morning out of Garris Landing. Sun was coming up the tide had begun to fall. Ran to one of my favorite spots for a falling tide trout bite and the day started slow. Used the minn kota to hunt around for them. After about 30 mins we found some fish along a tide line (current seam) in about 12’ of water. Boom bite was on caught a mix or trout and weakfish for about 2 hours landed 40+ trout. As the tide started to fall out and get close to low we decided to pick up and run to some points with oyster beds and rip rap and found the reds. They were definitely hungry. Landed 15+ nice upper slot reds and then had to head for the hill. Buddy had some chores to get to but all in all had a great day.
Reds were shallow in structure and trout where about 10-15 yards off the bank in 12’ of water.
Water temp was 62.
Baits of choice swimming trout trick in fried chicken for trout and streakz 3.75 in blue herron or ralph shad. Twitch twitch bang.
Good luck get out and fish they are waking up!
Side note: buddy fell in trying to get his line off a dock. ALWAYS bring a ditch bag this time of year! I had back up fleece shirts and gear. Hypothermia would have ended out day without a towel and spare clothes!
