Sorry this is a late report, but there is pictures circulating about it on other websites.
So we, a crew of three, left out of Shem Creek around 5:00am, saw a local mate prepping for his trip of that day. Asked if they planned on doing a half troll and half bottom fish. He said yea and I responded thats what we are going to do the same.
The judgement call of where to go, was based on the winds and waves. I had hoped to go and have gone north, but instead we went in a different direction.
As we got closer to our destination, we noticed a big rain cloud sitting on destination. We stopped in 150ft, put lines in and began our day. 15 minutes in a knock down and cut off. We made a pass by it and had a double hook up of wahoo. So by 9:00 am, we had some fish in the boat. We looped passed it, another time and pulled a peanut dolphin off of it. We looped by it again, no hits but noticed a weedline that extended out to deeper water and got distracted. As we loop back inside the ledge and pass behind the bandit boat, we noticed something breaking in the water behind the boat. And within twenty seconds later we had a line going off, after a fight and a gaff swing. We had our third wahoo in the boat. Then came big decision, should we keep trolling or go bottom fishing?
It was noon and we had 3 wahoo in the boat, we probarly could trolled for 3 more hours and maybe put more in the boat or run out of baits. We decided to give it a shot at b
