Late report for Sat 7-18-09, short day today

We headed out to Commanche Saturday morning after a slow ride out in sloppy seas. No other boats all day. First line out was the way back, which was hit as it was dropped back. Action continued most of the day with 6 dolphin, 5 kings (2 released), at least 2 cudas and a half of a false albacore. One of the dolphins was bitten in half also. The largest dolphin didn’t fit in the fish box, but was a little smaller than the 25 lb dolphin we caught in May. So I’m guessing in the high teens.

Headed back out today (7-19) with some storms on the horizon. Caught 2 kings (one of which was bitten in half) and a false albacore. Saw some other boats catching kings.

What’s cutting up these hooked fish? The “whole” king we released today had a gash on the tail.

I saw what looked like a 6 foot are better Cuda in that area last Sunday. I tried to feed it a pinfish but he would have none of it.

H&T,

Glad to see you got that fuel pump issue resolved and the boat is back up and running. Great report. Were you fishing live bait or ballyhoo?

TidewaterLefty,
Hoos. But the fuel pump issue is NOT resolved. Tried to head out this morning, but the motor continued to stall unless pumping the bulb. Eventually checked the fuse only to find the low pressure fuel pump blown again. So the boat’s going back to the dealer tomorrow and my friends are headed back to NC tomorrow. Very disappointing especially with the weather forecast…
