Late Report Stono 4-17

Called Stonoman and told him to deploy the crab trap cause I was coming to fish. With my girl in tow we braved the gale force winds and successfully got bait and went and tried a few spots. Nothing was cooperating and I was fearful that my attempt to show off was going to be a bust. Then on the way out near dead low we tried one more spot. Put a few baits out and hoooked up in short order. After having to reattach the handle to the reel in mid fight, the fish actually was almost landed. It was on for real now and within ten minutes we had another fish on. After a few very impressive runs and about a ten minute fight we netted her first saltwater fish. He was a 31.5in blue tailed red and I was a proud man!

Sniper you are brave to face gale force winds in a jon boat in Stono, and I might know a thing or to about that! I guess I need to set my traps out as well. That’s a great fish!

I am hoping to head that way this weekend.

What is that? A big croaker? There’s no spot on his tail!
