Out of Hilton Head: Lines in at 6:40 in 240 ft. Scattered weeds and unclear lines I. Silky water. 1st mahi at 7 am. Headed deeper to 450. Found good weed line and followed it out to 1,200 picking up 13 dandy mahi. One very big one for me. Weed line diminished and found tremendous rip at 1,500 ft.: slick to 8 ft. Fished it for 3 hours hooking up just one mahi double, losing one to tangle. We had enough mahi by 1 PM and had good Marlin gear out for the rip, no sign of him. Not sure which side should’ve been fished. Hit the Mahis on the rough side.
Saturday: lines in 150 feet at 7 am. Rough water stopped our progress… Slowed to 7 kt to troll: flyers, lost one, first fish on. Found good weed line in 400 ft. Fished it to deeper water catchin 8 or 9 a little smaller than Thursdays fish. Line diminished and I’m looking to be deep and fridge full, looking for bills.
