I saw this gobbler the Thursday night before youth weekend. Took his picture through my binoculars and watched him walk off to roost. Kid had to work at the golf course Saturday morning.
Looked for the bird again on Saturday night spotting from the road and didn’t see him.
Woke the boy up early Sunday morning and slid into the woods before sunlight and waited. After a little run and gun, kid shot the old boy with my new 20 gauge setup…
Proud of him, as the bird worked a 180 degree circle around us before coming into range… He did just like he should and waited for him to get behind a tree to rotate. Then waited for him to come in to about 35 yards… I whispered to him, “whenever your ready” and bam… I hadn’t even got “ready” out of my mouth… Great day…
heck yeah! nice one!
