true. ha ha
this past sunday after a great day on the water with the wife, I returned to BP and watched a young crabber (30) struggling to load a 22’ crab boat on a broken down trailer. he had buried his trailer too deep, one guide post was missing and the other was barely attached and the side wind kept blowing his boat off the trailer. Plenty of other boater’s were watching with amusement, but no offers of help. I told the youg man to give me a minute to clear the ramp and I would be back. Together, we had the boat out and in the stage area in under a minute. the look of gratitude on his face and continuing thankyou’s made my day. I offered no advice on how to load a boat, only suggested that he fix his guides if he continues to go it alone. My wife was proud of me, but the only comment I could think of, was " why didn’t anyone else offer to help a person that needed it?"
We don’t need “RAMP POLICE”. Make an offer of assistance and if it is declined, be patient. Some learn by example, others have no wish to and do not care about you.
Quarterpound you sound almost as smart as me when it comes to boat landings. I’ve quit trying to educate them and have resorted to humiliation at times. I’m so far ahead of the game when it comes to launching & retrieving a boat it’s scarey…
Ya gnaw wha I’m sayin?

I give a lot of help, as needed, when I can. Who knows when I may need the favor returned one day-
Besides that, it is what it is…
sunny summer weekends in Charleston = crowded boat ramps and a lot of traffic on the water
know this going in to it and half the anxiety is gone

If you ain’t retie’n, you aint try’n…
please don’t think that I don’t get ticked at stupidity. I do. I just try to control it. Now if you want to talk about fishing and crabbing on a boat dock, that’ a different matter and a sore point with me. I am hoping the new licsensing requirments helps put an end to that.
The people that crab and fish off the boat ramps think that’s what its for.One time at Limehouse I was coming in and this guy had 7 crab lines out.I was using the free side to get in.This jerk told me to use the other side.I powered in and tied up and sat until my friend backed the trailer in.I then got on the trailer and pulled out.I came back and told this guy why did he think the ramp was there. He said for poor people to crab.I just turned and left.I could not top that one.

I hate to own up to doing this but, when I had my big boat and saw alot of crabber’s on the boat dock, I used to run towards the dock, kill the trottle and make a hard left or right turn. That big *ss wake got alot of attention. Can’t do it in my 1720.
