Launch Sites

Hey guys,

Virginia guy spending the summer in the upstate, and not enjoying the lack of saltwater in the area. Thinking of bringing the 'yak down to try my hand at the reds and trout.

I’ve found some of Charleston’s public boat ramps online, but wondering if yall have any decent launch sites that you dont mind sharing that will put me in the vicinity of fish and away from tons of boat traffic. I’ve been looking at the Wando River, as well as down towards Edisto.

Are the fish turned off at all by the heat of summer, or are they more tidal dependent?

Thanks,
Jay

i’d say a good place would be paradise island boat landing… theres not much traffic during the week and great fishing

Good luck Bros

Yup, graduated '07. Northern Neck is a great spot, fished down there a few times myself. I’m from Manassas area. Currently guiding for trout out in Aspen Colorado. I liked to put in at Shem Creek in Mt. P and fish the docks. Also at the end of Folly by the light house, but you have to cart your yak out there. Good luck and enjoy your summer down there, fishing is great both on land and in sea
