Leadenwah Creek

Anybody heard any good things about Leadenwah creek? Perhaps its to far in for reds, but maybe some trout?</font id=“Trebuchet MS”></font id=“navy”>

Too far in. hardly navigable on low tide. The mouth is wide and there are a couple of feeders.

I’d say the other way around, too far in for trout but maybe some spot tail.

Correct, spot tail in the mouth. Tough fishing further in.

No fish anywhere near the Leadenway. Best to stay away.

haha noted  def no fish anywhere

Honestly, most above are right. There are reds at the mouth, and in the mouths of the first couple of feeder creeks, but they get a LOT of pressure anymore. Cannot hit that Rockville side bank of the mouth without seeing 2 boats any day of the week.

Further into the Leadenwah, there are fish all the way to the end, where it splits at Selkirk plantation, all the way to where the creek peters out and runs under Maybank hwy (that’s the stretch i grew up on). The key is to find the structure they want, same as any other place.

We used to troll in the back of the leadenwah and routinely catch 50+ trout in a couple of hours, and easily catch 20+ on a few docks along the way in from the mouth.

They’re there, but they’re not easy to find. Just go fish!

EDIT: Be careful in there at lower tides. There are lots of traps in there, and lots of spots that will mess you up if you’re not familiar. Go at low tide and scout it out.

Yeah man, was a long week and weekend of 1AM mornings at work and 2AM mornings in the duck blind. Thought I would be okay Sunday, but I crashed HARD! Sorry we missed it, looked like a good turnout.

Thanks for the information. Definitely going to have to take it slow at figuring out the creeks. I wonder if its worth taking the fly rod out and seeing if spot tail or trout make an appearance.

Down in HIlton Head there are some really really big tides that allow shrimp to get pushed somewhat deep back into the creeks down there. Any shrimp in these creeks?

We are moving at the end of December to a place on Leadenwah Creek and just trying to get a feel for the area.</font id=“Trebuchet MS”>
