Just looking for general thoughts on how long of a leader you use when fishing under a cork.
I’ve had floats from 8" to 6 ft away from my hook. It is all dependent on the situation, area you’re fishing, depth of water, what you’re fishing for, water clarity, current, etc.

I like to have the bait just tickling the bottom structure.

It depends on what kind of fishing you’re doing. If you’re fishing for shallow or suspended trout and reds with a popping cork (or a clacker like a Cajun), use a shorter leader (from 2-4’). If you’re fishing for flounder or deeper reds and trout with a standard adjustable cork, adjust leader do the current will sweep the bait just over the bottom.

Thanks for the info guys. Increased my leader length today and saw a big difference. I always thought I may have been using too short of a leader.
