Leaking gas 2002 90 merc. 2 stroke???

Yesterday I pulled the boat out of the garage to run it on the hose because it has been sitting for about a month. It cranked up fine, and ran little sluggish but just figured it had been sitting a while. I pulled it back in the garage and let it sit. About 3 hours later I was working in the garage and noticed oil/gas mixture (I premix)on the floor under the foot. There was also quite a bit of gas in my splashwell (I usually have a couple of drops, but this was more than usual). When I looked under the cowl there was a small pool of mixed gas, under the carbs. Not sure if it started in the top carb and trickled down? I tried priming the bulb and it was solid. My guess is this happened while I was running in the driveway? Is it OK to start it again and see where the leak is coming from, or should I take it directly to the shop? As you can see in my tagline I don’t have a knack for making motors crank:) Thanks as always for the help. I knew it was about due for an issue, since it has been running well for so long!

it would be okay to start it again and look for the leak, check all of you lines going to and from the carbs, and look around all the gaskets on the carbs, the gas these days will do a number on gaskets oover time.

make sure you get the pooled gas out of the cowling before you start it

I appreciate the info.! I soaked most of it up last night. It wasnt a ton, but definitely more than normal.

use the primer bulb and pump up hte fuel, see if its leaking anywhere, if you look on the port side, right under the air box, there is a molded hose that comes from the fuel connector and goes to the fuel pump, the rubber they make them out of gets real soft and can split. are you running oil injection? If you have eliminated the oil injection, you can easily make up a fuel line that eliminates the molded line, if you are still running oil injection, its easier to just order a replacement

make sue you have it away from the house and dont smoak!
