Parked the boat in the driveway after a morning of fishing on Saturday and noticed that after sitting for a few hours I have some oil leaking from the area where the lower unit connects with the midsection. Not a lot, but enough to raise a red flag. Thinking it may be a bad seal/gasket, but not great with motor repair. Any thoughts on the issue, and how extensive the repair is?
check to see if you have water in the lower unit. I have never pulled the lower units on my engines but I will this winter when I change the water pumps. I hear it is easy to do yourself.
I would assume that either your engine oil level would be low or your lower unit oil would have water in it.
is it black and foul smelling?
is it milky?
does it look like normal motor oil?
