Hit some small creeks this morning early with my buddy tucker, hoping to find some fish pushing in shallow. Thats exactly what we found. Tucker struck first throwing gulp on a spinning rod, and pulled a nice 29" fish. Next it was my turn so I picked up the fly-rod and went to work. I shortly hooked up with a nice 27" fish. We ended with 4 fish on the fly, the largest was 30". All fish fell for the “Mud Minnow” (thats the fly i tied for the last swap.)
I don’t post alot on here, but figured id let yall know that the fly is still working well out there.
Hey Mike, can you send me a pic of the Mud Minnow fly? I have been trying to come up with something that resembles it… I got jammed up at work and miss the last swap… let me know if you want one of the Gonzo’s I tied up for it though… I got the flies tied just couldn’t get them out…
Were ya’ll in a boat or did you wade in somewhere? I’ve seen Tuck at work on a stream, he can definitely handle his own. How did he do in the salt water with an 8wt?
We were in a boat… not much wading this time of year.
Tucker does good… this aint his first swing with an 8wt.
Plus… he had a good teacher just kidding… tucker works hard on his cast, and knows how to put the fly out there… he is one of the few people I dont worry about when I go fishing… Just point him in the direction, he’ll handle the rest.
