I would seriously appreciate any and all tips on artificials. Types, colors, and presentation. I’ve been right next to people landing fish and can’t get one to bite. HELP!

RW

Another month or so and the plastic will be working almost as good as live. And think about the time we are fishing vs. catching bait. Not sure what ya’ll use but I carry electric chicken, gulp shrimp/minnows, spinners, mirrorlures, zaro spooks.
Something to think about… If I am casting constantly (and I like to cast), I don’t want a heavy, gritty rod/reel. I like a smooth light combo that is comfortable to cast for hours.

edit: Ken, I’ll be at Edisto but otherwise would be there…

dd,

i’m in!

pm me

Still been using artifical all the time. Been getting pretty good luck on Top water, caught a nice 21 inch Red as well as a 13 inch Red. Rootbeer and New Penny Gulp been working well.

Jig head or carolina rig?

RW

Like using the Gulp with a jig head. BPS has a shrimp head jig that always works well. I also like the fact that it does not snag in the oysters as bad as some of the other shapes.

DolphinD,

You must be kidding…

Arts will not start for quite sometime as the bait of choice.

All I’m saying is get used to fishing them year round. That is if you want to win some money and great prizes when a certain fishing tourny adds a kayak division across the south east.

More info later…
