LED lights for flounder gigging?

I was wondering if anyone had any experience flounder gigging with LED lights above water. I’m looking at ordering a couple of these 50 watts for my boat http://www.gigflounder.com/boat-lights.htm#50w if anyone has any input or suggestions it would be much appreciated. Thanks

I have the 30 w in warm white - 6 of them 24v they run on 2 batteries for 6-7.5 hours they are nice and no jenny is even better. The color choice in the light is pretty important bowfishing.com has a lot of info / discussion about it.

If you can make it to Beaufort, Grayco on Lady’s Island has a couple different models you could look at. They have a pretty good selection of fishing and boating supplies there. It’s on Highway 21 about a mile past the Beaufort River Bridge.

Seafox 246 w 300 Yamaha

Look on the web for superbrightled.com . They use CREE Led in their fixtures. Nothing else comes close regardless of what you may read. I would look at their off road section bar lights in a flood configuration, looks like they would be great on a boat.

Im in the process of installing around half a million dollars worth of led lighting for some car dealerships. Not from this company but Ive studied led for a long time and there`s a big difference in quality and performance in led.

Thanks for all the help fellas I’m definitely going to check out the cree leds. They seem to be the way to go.

$129 per light? By the time you put four of those on the boat and a couple of deep cycle batteries you spent more than a cheap generator & four halogens. I’ll stick with my $11.99 shop lights from Lowe’s.

Why would you buy four lights when a single fixture ( the $129.00 one ) puts out more than six times the lumens a 50 watt incandescent lamp does ? Current draw is 4.5 amps per hour at 12 volts so the need for a bunch of batteries is negated. Dont get me wrong, Ive done it old school and enjoyed every minute of it. Hauling around generators and every type of light you can think of. But now ? Id leave the generator and its noise, not to mention its 120 volts, at home and try something new.Just my opinion though and if I had something I was happy with, I` d stick to it.

That’s an old school pro tip right there who is not out to impress just wants to get the job done.

I run 500 watt halogens. I tried LED’s and the cheap halogens out shine them by plenty. But what do I know…

All you know is from years of gigging fish not just going gigging with the trendy newest lights and not gigging one flounder but hey what do I know.

A very good friend of mine, a dedicated flounder gigger, has tried every type of light out there from 12 volt to 120 volt. He has gigged flounder from one end of this state to the other and would go whenever the tide was right regardless of the time of night. There is no one out there who is or was more passionate about flounder gigging than him. He has spent a small fortune trying to find the “best” light to use and he always returned to his halogens and his Honda 2000.

This is ALL I have used for 10 years… all that other stuff is just CRAP.
