LED Trailer lights

Hey guys, I have a quick question about new LED trailer lights. I got them installed, all the grounds are good, LEDs are lighting up but when I hit the signal lights they’ll come on for a few blinks and then won’t signal after I cancel them and try again. Brake lights come on when I hit the brake, but no directional lights. Not sure what’s going on here…been reading some threads on other sites that talk about the LEDs not providing enough resistance. Wondering if that has something to do with it. Please let me know…

Most of the time with DC voltage it always leads back to a “lack of ground”

Stupid question that I could look up but without doing it, what does LED stand for?

Light emitting diode. Check the grounds!

You have to run a ground wire from the truck to each light. They draw such few amps, the grounds can be a little sensitive. To test this, get a roll of wire and try it out. It is what I had to do to mine.

Thanks Larry, you saved me some searching!

LEDs,greatest invention since sliced bread, have had some for over 5 years and never had any problems even in salt water!

Thanks for shining a light on this topic…hahaha
I’ll give that a try tomorrow, hope it works. LEDs definately are the best thing since sliced bread!!

It’s almost always the ground or lack there of. Good luck.

Most definitely ground problem. Do not use trailer as ground.run all seperate ground wires up to white wire on harness. Also make sure that your truck is grounded. White wire should go back to the negative terminal not to chassis ground. Also a quick check to see if it is a grounding problem…turn on headlights and also four way flashers and all the trailer lights will be flashing
