Has anyone of power written something like this for the folks of South Carolina?
Not that I know of!
Thank you for posting that letter Mark. I enjoyed reading that very much. I am heading from charleston to wilmington to attend the meeting on thursday. I plan on speaking on several topics and glad to see we have heavy support against the MPAs.
I am proud to say my Congressman has been very helpful on many fishery issues. Your representatives will listen to you if you are persistent and polite.
Will you please send a letter like this for us yellowbird?

I’m on it. Letter will go out this week.

Let’s also make sure that there is no “reconfiguration” of existing areas. These “reconfigurations” twist the axis of the MPA’s from East-West to NorthEast-SouthWest which follows the contour line of the ledge. Thus it will make them about twice as large in terms of grabbing MORE fishing grounds even though the physical dimensions have not changed.
The “reconfiguration” is just a sneaky attempt to grab more fishable areas if you look at it closer.
Thank you yellabird.
The only changes to existing MPAs should be if they are enhanced with artificial reef habitat and/or marked with data buoys that could also be used for monitoring. They should not be reconfigured.

Thanks to Peter, also a member on this site, for co-signing this letter with me. We should be proud to have such an active and avid fisherman like Peter in the SC House.

Thank you yellabird and Peter!
It would be very helpful if all of you living in these two great public servant’s districts would send a copy of their letter along with a statement of support to the people they sent it to. Our elected representatives have much more influence if their constituents publicly support them.
Sweet!
Thank you Mr. Goldfinch and Mr. McCoy!
