lights

best lights to use on the water to see your poles and what your doing in the boat? something that will not kill the battery to fast any ideas???

14ft jon boat 25hp

also any good spots that i can get to quick i normal go to bulls bay

I use a Walmart stoplight ( one of the cheap ones) and put battery clips on the ends and use an extra car battery. Then attach the light to a PVC pole that can stand up in the boat (mine fits into a rod holder on my center console) so you can turn sideways or angle up or down.
Also got small battery operated lights and attach them to each end of the shrimp poles so there is no question where my poles start and stop.
Hope this helps!

You gotta love the South Carolina Lowcountry.

We always put a small car fog light on a piece of PVC and zip tie it to the console, as far as poles we tape a glow stick on the top of the first and last pole.

Walmart shop light you can screw in the top of a piece of PVC angled down and it shines the front of the boat so you can see what you’re doing at your feet and picks up the reflectors on your close poles

Shop light take off clip and screw in to PVC. Cut the plug off install gator clips and a 12 v bulb. PVC above your head where you’re casting so not in your eyes. Ready to go and doesn’t affect the driver

My boat driver and I use head lamps and we also put glow sticks on the first and last poles.

an led light works best and uses a lot less battery. they cost a little more but work out in the long run.

glow sticks at “dollar tree”…all different sizes and quanties… a. dollar bag. also solar lights for a dollar…stick them in your rod holder for deck lights:)

i have no rod holders ill try and post a pic of the boat when i get off in a few hours

Buy a clipon shop light and use with a mr 16 12v halogen spotlight bulb and mount on a 1 1/4" pvc pipe. Add 12v plug or battery clips. Mine is 11 yrs old and still using original bulb. It will light up your entire line of poles. On dark nights we use it for a spot light on the way home. Be sure it is mounted high.

We use a rechargeable spotlight, no cables or cords anywhere. Very effective and out of the way

For light, we use an led tractor light from…tractor supply I think. Expensive up front but really nice. The boat driver has a headlight on so you can see each pole while driving and looking(it can be switched to red so it’s easy on the eyes). For the end poles, get you decent size pieces of reflective sheeting like they use on roadway signs. It’s just stickers with reflective stuff on them. We put ours on as “flags”. I’m guessing there are some local businesses that may have some scrap laying around for free or really cheap. They stand out like crazy with very little light.
