went up to an area around the stono where ive learned a specific creek mouth at which pretty big reds will devour peeler crabs in april–particularly from 1 to 2.5 hrs after high tide. got there a little to late saturday, saw a couple of pods for a minute and tried to video them, didnt come out, they left w/ the outgoing tide. got there too early sunday. battled the wind both days, paddling was a pain, positioning was a pain, anchoring was a pain. but the fish were there. landed two.
switched to the 8 wt, no bites on green & purple seaducer, “rhett butler” ( pretty sure its the orange and purple, will prob trash that one), big eye mullet, couple others i cant remember. water was very muddy though. put another crab quarter in eventually and hooked one that felt bigger, broke off the braid which im sure was abraded and which i should have checked and changed.
