Went fishing on Thursday with Scott from Greenville, and my youngest son Mikey. Mikey has been hell bent on taking back his spot in the Trident tourney since I unseated him in the spring. We took a well full of lively pinfish, and went to a few spots in 100’ - 120’. Scott had the joy of landing his first Grouper, a 14# Scamp, and we quickly filled our limits of critically endangered, almost extinct, B-liners. The Trigger bite is red hot, with fish coming on every type of bait that went down (try using a #2 Gama live bait short shank hook). The pins were getting killed on every drop, and I am pretty sure we released 25-30 big stud AJ’s. I was minding my business on the port side, trying to catch a grouper or two, when I hear Mikey cussing about the “AJ” that was whoopin his arse! I noticed the fight had a little more head shake, so went to investigate. I look over ,and down 50’ is a monster chicken! I think they heard him hollering back on shore when I gaffed that fish! If I am going to get beat out of a slot, I could not think of anyone better to do it! He has become quite the angler in his 18 years, and I am proud as hell! here are some pics…
Sells, if you got to take the back seat in the Trident, I am glad Mikey was the man to whoop ya!! Go Mikey!!! Great day there guys, Scott that was a nice Scamp and dinner plate Trig. Congrats to all of you.
Did you leave any chickens in the coop?? I heard someone left the door open and they all ran away. WRONG!!!
