Been dragging rigs thru the IO & Med…some small critters but @ 14+ knots (the slowest we run until the Whale Zone…) there’s no way I’d stand a chance @ anything over 5# on the 50W. Slowing or stopping to retrieve a meal would result in a few folks packing & going home early. Company monitors every inch of our route. The few little critters hooked were skying out of the water for 30’ @ a time - tough taking up the slack.
This morning was too cold for me to watch the rigs. May try get some 1/4" braid (white!) & some 400# mono to use - a few wraps on the windlass would make short work of anything.
Gonna be slowing to 10 knots & hanging a right just south of GTH @ 0200 - may have to get a few things wet…
