Got the invite Wednesday afternoon to fish Thursday with my cousin and his friend. Maiden voyage for the season in Trip’s 22 Sea Hunt. Headed out a little north and inshore of where we wanted due to the ride. Started at 830am on the 220 line in 120’ of water. Trolled south and out to 300’ where we picked up our first mowie. Kept pushing south and between 320’ and 370’ before calling it a day at 1230pm. It was good to fish again on a smaller boat to be reminded of where it all started. Reminded me of the ole Carla Dee days. Finished the day with a box full of dolphin and made it back to the hill safely through all the slop. Highlight of the day was fishing around a Chinese container ship that was adrift at sea. We caught two nice dolphin, one going around 40lbs. The Chinese were lined up on deck with a birds eye view of the whole fight. Just glad they didnt fire any warning shots our way.
