Limehouse bridge - Need Fish!

Hey guys, I’m new to the area. Moved here from Charlotte, NC. I live near John Limehouse bridge and have some access that is not open to the public where I can fish near the bridge pilings and creeks near the bridge. I don’t have a boat. I’m dying to catch some fish. I know the water is a little on the cold side, but can anyone offer any fishing tips for these areas or any other land access where I may actually target and catch some fish. I’m a novice at best. I just want to eat some fresh fish  Any tips appreciated. Thinking about hitting the surf this weekend just for the heck of it. Any advice on where I should go? Never fished for Sheepshead before. would be interested in them also.

Thanks in advance.

Try the Church Creek Bridge on Maybank Highway to Wadmalaw. Shrimp or minnows under a cork. Through a grub under those docks near you or toss a minnow on a Carolina rig (or under a cork)

Fish fry at your place next week!

Cut mullet, esp. larger finger mullet, cut into fillets. Will catch flounder, redfish, and trout (among others).

Live finger mullet can be good as well, but I prefer the cut stuff. Limehouse can be murky water, and the smell in the water from the cut mullet is often irresistible to reds.

Thanks guys. Great tips. Will try it out today. Had been using artificials with slow retrieve.

Can someone tell me the closest place to find bait near Limehouse bridge?

In Red Top, at the seafood store, cannot remember the name though. Also if you go on River rd. you can fish off of the bridge in that creek, only problem is that parking on the side of the road sucks but you can catch fish there.

Double D.

If you get one of those metal minnow traps cylinder type ones any type of hotdog/meat in it, either side the whole way into limehouse landing in the shallow creeks will give you all the mud minnows you need in short order

^ and just to add to the minnow trap idea, less than a cup of dog food is much much cheaper (well, if you have a dog) and works just as good as any bait i’ve seen put in a minnow trap (although I’d put a hot dog in there first if the hot dog had gone bad).

And if you catch any legal size crabs…freeze a few. …guts and all…take one…break it open and toss it in the minnow trap…that’s a sure minnow getter… Park at the gas store right there before limehouse and the road that comes beside it there’s a couple big ditches…minnows there as well as the drain that runs beside the limehouse parking lot…the whole way down…fiddlers too when it is warm… If you are at limehouse…parka nd walk. Along the bank under the bridge itself…fish the other side of it… Good luck to ya…

thank you so much for the tips. I’ve been surf fishing for years, but it was only twice a year at best. Now that I’m living here and fishing these waterways and creeks. I feel like an amateur.

Can I freeze the mud minnows for later use also?
