Limehouse Landing

I got tired of sitting around watching football Sunday so I threw the kayak in the truck and drove out to Limehouse. It is the first time that I have put in there but it was not to bad at all. It was low tide but there seems to be some fishy water around the landing, no fish to speak of and only one good bite. The highlight of the trip was watching a guy release a Great Blue Heron that he’d picked up on the side of the road. It was trying to peck his eyes out, apparently he picked it up a long way from a marsh or so he said and he didn’t know if it was sick or injured so he brought it out there where it would be able to forage. I thought it was pretty nice of him considering what the bird was trying to do to him!!!

whtz, i always thought that would be good down the bank where all the docks are.might be good throwin a lure around them.

I fished mostly the John’s Island side of the river and if the tide wouldn’t have been quite so low the fishing probably would have been better. It look like about a half mile down on the right(from the landing) there is a big sand bar that splits the river at lower tides with some good looking dock structure between the sand bar and the John’s Island side. Unfortunately, I didn’t notice the bar until I was driving home on River Rd. I will definitely be heading back there sometime soon on a better tide.
