How is the guy in this picture doing? I heard he never posts a picture of his face on the internet cause someone threw acid in his face after something he posted on the internet. I heard he has a nasty looking mug now.
Since we are arguing ethics here and PR brought up spearfishing vs rod and reel. I would like to throw in the fact that commercial fisherman read this site and take info from the weekend warriors and use it to make the $$$$ off our R&D.
You think Bug Catcher and Skinnee can ruin a spot watch what the reef raider or a bandit boat can do.
That should lead us into page 4.
For the record Bug and Skinnee, you are both good guys I think you may actually get along if you spoke to one another off the intraweb.
Set the trap boys, we going to pass through them again!!
SJ, are you saying it’s easier for you to catch fish on R&R than it is for you to kill them with spring steel? I just can’t imagine that it’s easier to catch on R&R. The only arguement is that not EVERYBODY can dive but everyone can fish. That’s the only way I could see it being more difficult.
</font id=“quote”></blockquote id=“quote”> Pflueger, how in the sam hell did you get that out of what I wrote? That’s not even close to what I am saying…
quote:I also agree with SJ that a resource shouldn't be fished and dove on 20-30 times per year. Really a ledge or natural resource unlike a wreck, rubble, etc....
Yes, that is MUCH closer to what I am saying... And the fact, when you have a bad ass fishing\diving spot, you should avoid it when everyone else is on the water or they will see you on it, and be there 20-30 times during the year. Most of the better fishermen that I know will pick up anchor and haul ass if they are sitting on their honey hole and another boat is headed that direction...
I’m referencing to the comment that was said about being a crappy fisherman b/c when Bugz dives he out-performs all R&R’ers. That’s all. Now on the other topic, I’m going to have to try that when I get back to my own operation again. When I see other boats out, make a swift 100 yard or so movement near them, hit MARK on the GPS, write down the bearing line and log the #'s
I got $5…maybe more…whatcha got for me? I have to compare it to one of your buddies #'s to make sure they’re not the same.

I am pretty sure you have numbers for what you think is the box topper hole, but someone started spreading the wrong numbers for it long ago. I’ve got the real numbers.
Again Sj and Phin are here to teach us all on what is the right thing to do, now thats some funny stuff there, you both are still wet behind ya ears and wouldn’t know a sportman from an alley cat
Local Boy, I’ve been hunting and fishing for 30+ years. How long until you consider me dry behind the ears? I’d be willing to bet that if Phin and myself didn’t post updates to all of the fishery management stuff, 90% of the people on this forum wouldn’t even know what the current laws are. Try again!

Local Boy, Just having fun.
So you’re saying the CCA or DU stickers no longer denote sportsmen?

lol, what are those. The #‘s I have are a 90-100’ ledge in 1 area, haven’t scouted the other but there are about 10 spots within .4 mile of that ledge. Would this be compared to that. Just send me 1 # by PM and I’ll let you know if it’s in the same area. My life was threatened when I received these #'s. I also received #'s from another in the same general area & out there around the garden area…again haven’t ever been to those either.

I have heard of people paying good money for numbers sold by people who fish a lot and have killed a lot of fish. Doesn’t that not seem rational somehow? Shouldn’t those numbers just be given away as near worthless? And shouldn’t numbers owned by people such as reelman, who seems to not catch many fish, demand a high price?
I think it’s all coming to light now, and I understand why I can’t get $5 after posting those pics of fish taken from some numbers.
Hey now, I don’t catch as many fish b/c I don’t ever fish. I’m sure the #'s I have, you could fill the box in meer minutes. I also don’t fish live bait etc. Chicken rigs with squid, cutbait and the random frozen cig is it for me. The people that I take out also have never been or have been maybe a couple times in their life offshore fishing. I spend more time helping them then fishing myself. I keep it simple. I am also willing to admit that I’m not the best at anchoring and resetting the anchor as the current/wind changes over a spot. Hell I generally blind drop on a spot to find where the fish are. I’m unorthodoxed to say the least but as long as we get on the fish and I make other people happy I’m fine. Now when dad or some other friends who fish offshore a lot is a different story. I let them do all the work:smiley:

this post has been a riot! The only reason I still post is I took almost a thrity year hiatus from saltwater fishing offshore to raise my family and chase the large lips.(it was a lot cheaper) I was born and raised in south Fla. fishing the everglades flats and the Keys. When I got the fever to go offshore again I found cf.com and am very grateful for all the information that was shared by everyone, some what to do and some what not to do!.I have met many great fisherman on the match/up page and we have become great friends. I have a goto list of at least 30 fisherman that I can call at the drop of a hat to go with or will go with me. in these economic times it is essential to have a full crew to help share the exp. and clean the catch and boat. the only promblem is I can’t fish with all of them all the time as I run my own business. I can understand why so many great fisherman have quit posting on this site, I have met many of them and they have stood by my side broke down 30+ miles out just because it was the rite thing to do. most outdoorsman are fine people and I have met many fishing and hunting. I have talked to skinneej on the phone and he helped me with a promblem I had. s4g hooked me up with folks out of state to fish with, Sells is always ready to share info. I have never fished with any of them but would go with any of them at the drop of a hat if given the opportunity just because we share the same passion. we may not agree on the method or the road to get there but as long as I’m out there giving my all, thats what it’s all about to me, if its not worth giving 110% it’s not worth doing, thats just how I roll, with no apologies! I have been on a table at 43 getting hit with the paddles to keep my heart going, the good lord gave me another chance and i have not wasted a single min. in 14 yrs. My kids and friends can’t keep up with me. I have learned to plan for tomorrow but live for today! I stay witin the limits but am not ashamed to carry that limit home!
