On lake murray it is five fish 21" or bigger. Other lakes are different
Striped bass and/or hybrids
Limit: 10 fish per day (See exceptions.)
Size limit & exceptions: 5 fish per day and
21-inch minimum size limit in the following
areas:
- Broad River from the lock and dam of the
Columbia Canal to its confluence with lower
Saluda River; - Saluda River from Lake Greenwood Dam
to Lake Murray; - Lake Murray;
- Lower Saluda river from the Lake Murray
Dam to its confluence with Broad River; - Wateree River from the Lake Wateree Dam
to its confluence with Congaree River; - Congaree River from the confluence of
Broad and Lower Saluda rivers to its confluence
with Wateree River; - Lake Marion, Lake Moultrie, and the
Diversion Canal; - the Tailrace Canal from Pinopolis Dam to
Cooper River; - the east and west branches of Cooper River
downstream to the US Highway 17 bridge; - Wando River;
- the Rediversion Canal;
- Santee River from the lake Marion Dam
downstream to the Intracoastal Waterway.
Creel limit exceptions:
• Lakes Marion, Moultrie, Murray and Congaree
River from Gervais Street Bridge seaward,
during July and Aug., two of the five striped bass
creel limit may be less than 21 inches.
In the Savannah River and its tributaries and
distributaries and the lands immediately adjacent
to them from the J. Strom Thurmond Lake dam
downstream to the mouth of the Savannah River
Defined by a line from Jones Island, S. C. (also
known as Oysterbed Island) point at N. 32 ° 02"
W. 80° 53 “; across Cockspur Island, “Georgia,
point at N. 32 ° 01” W. 80° 52 " to Lazaretto
Creek, Georgia, point at 32 ° 01"W. 80° 52 ". -
Unlawful to possess more than 2 striped bass,
striped bass hybrids, white bass, or any combination
of these species. Any lawfully possessed fish of each of these species must be a minimum
of 27 inches.

I once saw a post from someone on wateree saying they wished the striper were bigger but they don’t grow as big there. He had a pic of 20 stripers, most looked in the 16" range. I know it is legal, but when everyone keeps small fish can’t ever get big. But I guess that is why they have different limits for different lakes. You can fish for a cooler full of small stripers or go fish for bigger ones and only keep five. i would like to see them do a trophy lake where you can only keep one over 30".

I agree, last year I had a sales rep take me fishing on Clarks Hill and while the guide was a great guy and I enjoyed fishing with him we were going to fish till we had our 40 fish limit(4 guys). I thought he was going to have a stroke when I caught the first fish and just threw it back.
I realized these guys make their living fishing and after talking with him he stated that he would love to see a 5 fish per person limit in that it would protect the fishery and also he could end his days much quicker but He also stated that when they pull back up to the docks and others are watching and do not see a limit of fish in a cooler it hurts their chances of booking that “looker” for a fishing trip.
He did tell me that his clients catch approx 5000 fish on an average year so multiply that times the number of guides and you can see that is hard on the fish population. Also most of these fish were what we call party fish, 3-4 lb fish at best but wer legal
