Linco Trim tabs

Hey guys, new boat owner trim tab on starboard side worked at test run now won’t go down, nothing, makes noise when switch is flipped to raise but are already up all the way, wont move down no sound nothing? Any ideas? Thanks!

Sounds like a problem with the switch. Clearly the actuator is getting power, and there should be no reason why it would run one direction and not the other. So maybe a faulty switch or bad connection?

Chris V or someone of the like will most likely be along shortly to tell you how to diagnose it.

Good luck! Congrats on the new boat!

Thanks I figured it was getting power so would that mean it is not in the actual hydraulic part, but rather an electrical issue outside of the actual tab lifter.

If it swims throw a fly at it!

lencos are all electric
there is an electric motor inside the actuator
sounds like the switch
find the wire going to that motor, and run 12 volts to it, and then swap the positive and neg and see if it goes up and down
if so, its a switch issue
if not, its a bad actuator, but I doubt that

How about this one:

Upon returning from 2 days at Morris Island my starboard Lenco was spontaneously making noise, like electric motor running, but tab not moving (boat was already up on trailer). If I hit switch it would stop; but then repeated the same action on it’s own. Any ideas why it would power on independently yet notmove the tab?

Stickman, I had the same problem with mine. come to find out one of the tabs was leaking. I took it in and they put a new one on. Works fine now. I think water messed up my actuator.
