Typically the higher pound test braid, the better it slides off the reel. Depends on what your using it for too

I keep my 4000 series round reels spooled with 20# test power pro.
I agree with braid and fluorocarbon unless you tend to back-lash baitcasting reels; picking the knots out of braid can be a challenge.

I have gotten to the point were I rarely do that anymore until I have used the mono for a few weeks and it starts to get a little worn. That’s why I asked aobut the line. what knot do you use for the floro leader? how long of a leader. just concerned about the knot catching on the eye and getting a mess in the reel. or do you just keep it short and not go past the eye

OK, I figured out the leader and the results were very nice. went down the dock Saturday night to test out the casting and hooked into a nice trout. got him all the way to the dock but then he spit the hook. anyway, thanks for the info.

Only thing to be mindful of with braid is that the smaller diameters can bury into the spool and cause issues. As long as you watch out for it you should be fine. I like 30# at least.
