Line Size

Taking a poll…

I’ve always used 20# line for kings. Got to buy a spool of line to respool for summer next month. Any opionins- is 15# line worth messing with off Charleston, or stay with 20#

See you on the pond a bunch this year 'cuss I finally got my boat running right again.

high seas 20lb test. with our murkier(sp) water up here smaller line is not going to make that much of a difference.

I use Power pro 8/30.I will leader off the PP with at least 30lb brown wire.

I’ve used #16 and #20. Never found a difference. I think the leader is what’s most important. Use wire for the leader.

how do you like that regulator…

Thanks, for the thoughts.

See you on the pond,

I’m moving into a Jupiter 38 in mid April. The Regulator is being sold.

I use 20# myself. You’ll have plenty on the spool, just keep the drag set right! Wire leader for sure.

livebaiting…doesn’t matter. You could use 12. But if you end up with 300 yards of any line in the water, the drag on the line itself will probably be too much for the hook.
trolling meat…20 will give you more options for things other than livebaiting. 20 is the better choice.

Just my 2 cents

I use 15lb test. I agree that if you get 300+ yds of line out the water pressure will either pull the hooks or break the line. Hence chase the fish and stay on top of her.
