Line type?

I searched this forum and came back with the phone book…

Inshore, set up for trout smaller reds,
Casting 1/8oz, popping corks, and so on

Type type? Mono, Fluor, or ??

Line weight?

Tips or tricks used? silicone line treatments, WD40…

For trout I go with a backing of mono to fill the reel spool, than fill with 20lb braid (a little over kill) to a 17lb mono leader. I like using jigs with or with out poping corks. All depends what the fish are up for. For Reds I just up that to where I am fishing (docks and fallen trees). I use a carolina rig for cut or live bait.

A wise man once said “Do as I say not as I do” Good advice when I tell you that.

I use braid with a Floro leader. Size depends on what I am going for.

Typically I use Power Pro 8/30 braid and Seaguar 17-20lb fluorocarbon leader. I will scale down to 15lb fluorobcarbon when things get tough or if I know I’m around smaller fish.

I’ve been experimenting with Sunline SX1 braid and have been very pleased so far.

I use almost the exact same setup as oops_lost. 20# braid, 20# mono leader.

20 lb braid I find heavy for light artificials. I love 10lb invisibraid by superstore. I use 20lb power pro for bait applications. Carolina rigs. I always use 20 lb flouro inshore for my leader.

10lb power pro. You can cast it a mile and its more than plenty strong for almost anything inshore. I like to use flouro leader for corks or tied strait to the line for jigs in clear water. In muddy water I don’t even use the leader.

Hauled in a 34+" red on my trout rod last week with 10# powerpro; it is more that adequate. Anything less becomes whispy and more difficult to handle. My rods for casting to reds have 15# and my live bait rods for fishing around docks have 20#. Rarely I move up to 30# for horsing big fish from structure.

Don’t know if it’s really even necessary but I’m sure someone on here can tell you why they use it and why you should too. Never found the need for it, personally.
