Little Brothers Big Trout

For us this has been the year of big trout. My little brother caught his personal best trout on a black and silver popper Sunday evening. Then caught his personal best again on the same lure. 5-2 and 7-0.

Two VERY nice trout!!

Catch those here in SC?

No matter how much it hurts, how dark it gets, or how far you fall…you are never out of the fight.

Thanks for sharing. Have to admit though, you took a chance by posting this on this forum. I can hear the teeth grinding of the folks that want to tell you those big breeder trout should’ve been released sitting behind their keyboards losing their minds. Can’t say I’d disagree with them but the fish were caught and kept within legal means allowed by the state so kudos to you and your little brother. Definitely bigger than any trout that’s ever stretched my line, that’s for sure. Gators like that aren’t commonplace in SC so they’ll be logged in your memory banks forever. Any plans to get a mount done? I’d have a hard time not wanting to put a replica mount on the wall of the biggest one. Congrats!!

I am for sure getting a mount done and I have already ordered mine for the 6-4 and 5-7 I caught and I should have that back sometime early next month. I will be sure to post a picture of it when it comes in. As for this fish it will most likely get a replica mount done as well. I found a company in Florida and I really like the work they do. We have fished here all our lives and neither of us have ever caught trout of this quality. I will share that fact that when both of these trout were cleaned all of these fish had 0 eggs in them. They haven’t started getting ready for the spawn yet. And I know that some people would agree that they should have been released and at the same token some people would think you were crazy for not keeping a fish like that. My theory is to each their own. Be legal about it and enjoy the resource that’s there. I by no means harvest every legal fish I can. I have no need for that many fish. Speckled trout just happen to be one of my favorite fish so they do get invited to dinner more often than other species.
