I am planning a fishing trip in the Charleston area for two weeks from now (Friday ? Sunday, 6/21 ? 6/23). We will be targeting reds and trout primarily. Looks like 5 foot high tides early in the mornings, 6 + footers in the evenings and negative lows midday.
I?ve read lots of info here and other places and fished a good bit inshore but typically have a tough time finding fish on my own. I don’t get down to the coast often enough to be proficient. I?ve followed the advice looking in the flooded flats during high water and draining creeks as it approaches low.
I plan to use plastics (mostly electric chicken and root beer/chartreuse) as well as mud minnows, finger mullet and menhaden. I have a few top water plugs and will pick up some Trout Tricks.
I?m not asking anyone to reveal their secret holes but would appreciate any help or additional pointers that would help me get on the fish.
I have a 17 foot Sundance Flicker w/ 70 HP Yamaha so I can cover a lot of territory and get pretty shallow. Typically I go to the Gray Bay, Hamlin Sound and Bullyard Sound area because I?m more familiar with that water. Any suggestions on going another direction would also be appreciated.
It will be just me and my brother-in-law so we can fish all day and try a lot of things.
